With a splitter like below, the input would be the ONT, the three outputs would be the moca adapter, 2nd floor coax cable and 3rd floor coax cable. Reading a couple moca adapter manuals it seems like the third configuration i posted on my first post would be functional. In their config I think they are just using the vz router as a moca adpater. Image below is the recommended config per DSL reports for third party router while maintaining full STB functionality. In the existing configuration the verizon router has built in moca providing that functionality (through that existing splitter). It's an odd configuration compared to what I'm used to seeing with something like comcast. If the STB is connected direct to the ONT it will work but the guide on the STB won't populate as it relies on the moca network to provide that (i believe the on-demand also relies on the moca network). My understanding of the verizon STB is that it relies on both the coax from the ONT and the moca network for full functionality so I cannot separate them. I hope this helps! And if not, feel free to ask questions. And by disconnecting the coax connection between the ont and the splitter that goes to the rest of the ports in the house, you are now free to create another separate moca network that can be fed by your router.īecause you're dealing with STB and Verizon and all the quirks with those pieces of equipment, the gist of it is that you can use the coax to feed those boxes directly and then use the rest of the coax separately for whatever else you need to do. So you can have a single straight shot run from the coax ont to your stb-no splitters involved. How is this important in your setup? Well, essentially you want to have two moca networks over the same coax-except you can actually separate the coax into as many point to point networks as you want by directly wiring things together versus through splitters. 136.So there's an important concept to understand about moca and coax that I think will lead you to the answer for your setup.Weekend Open Forum - Friday, Aug by wdunwoody The Longest-Running Shows on American Television by Stem Bolt Pregnant Detroit woman sues city: falsely arrested by crap facial software by PX_Eliezer Is this what there really doing ? by tito79 READ carefully: This May Be the World's Stupidest Question by mbernste Multiple password reset tries by PoloDude Elon Musk's SpaceX Revolution: From 'Fool's Errand' To Building A 'New Internet In Space' + more notable news.Starlink's Dominance Of Satellite Internet Raises Alarms About Elon Musk's Growing Geopolitical Sway + more news.Indie Cable Ops Encouraged To Play Offense And Defense With BEAD + more notable news.Internet Providers That Won FCC Grants Try To Escape Broadband Commitments + more notable news.FCC Hikes ACP Low-Income Broadband Support For High-Cost Areas + more notable news. This is a "customer owned" unit that I purchased from VZ when I signed up when I moved to my current place last summer so it is not even a year old, has one ever had problems getting them replaced via tech support or Fios store? When I look in the status page it still shows disconnected, has anyone ever seen the COAX on a G1100 die? I strongly suspect that is what is happening here. Tried swapping the cable run to my wall port and rebooting again and nothing. So I checked my router and on the LAN side it shows COAX disconnected, rebooted the router, still shows disconnected. LiveTV still works so its definitely not my coax cabling from what I can tell. Tried rebooting nothing, tried disabling/reenabling MOCA, nothing. Turned the TV off and just went to bed was problem for another day.įast forward to today, I noticed my Roamio was know longer getting a IP, tried DHCP again and no such luck it didn't get a IP. I am Tivo user who relies on Moca currently to provide IP service my Roamio and Mini's.įriday when I was going to bed I went to watch TV on one of the Mini's in my bedroom, noticed it was no longer connected to the Moca Network, I thought that was odd and fired off a DHCP request again after what seemed like a longer time than it should be it got a IP, but then when attempting to stream channels to the mini it was skippy and blocky.
